NaQ Aquascaping Contest Manager - Mrs. Livia Giovannoli
The Aquascaping area was a creative workshop where aquascaping displays, lessons and lectures were alterned in a joyful atmosphere. No hierarchy, no gurus, everyone giving and receiving tips, answering question by the public and simultaneously handling buckets, tubes, rocks, wood and plants.
A masterpiece of collaboration and creativity for an outstanding result in terms of quality. Amazing to observe a group of a dozen people, from France to Sicily, with diametrical opposed characters, that enjoyed in the most pure and simple way …. In the aquascaping area, the “laughter” was the sound that stood out all over…
On Sunday morning the 8 tanks of the Contest have “suffered” the jury’s judgment (Vincenzo Maisto and Dario Schelfi) who declared the Giacomo Guarraci’s tank the winner, but in reality is the whole group that comes out winner: i have never seen a group so tight-knit, a group of people who have not many opportunities to meet but that found after a few minutes, an amazing harmony. Even Heiko Bleher, requested by the chief executive (Christian Pedone), has expressed an opinion on the tanks, declaring his winner: Heiko, following a completely different evaluation criteria, considered the Giacomo Guarraci’s tank the “best” because was the closest to a natural habitat.
Still in the aquascaping area has been widely followed by the public the installation of the tank according to the ADA philosophy. There was also and exhibition space for the RAP (Rare Aquatic Plants), which has sets up very nice tanks using the eastern Kokedama technique.
Their exhibition area has brought many curious and water-botanic passionate. After this first project, which has raised the enthusiasm of the Aquagarden group to the incredible, we are all ready to organize a new event. This time, while wanting to maintain an atmosphere of joyful sharing, we will try to capitalize on the wonderful experience of NaQ011, focusing on excellence and quality in terms of organization. With this precious heritage, the total support by the NaQ organization and the support from companies that are intelligent and sensitive to cultural projects…we can only get better. We all have the will to do that!
This year, “Napoli Aquatica 2011 International Fair”, in addition to the trade show and the exhibition grounds, has had several flagships: the Discus Championship, Caridina Contest, Betta Show, Heiko Bleher’s biotopes gallery. To these I add a “cloverleaf”: The Aquascaping project area. A project that I have personally conducted, supported entirely from the companies Aquaristica and Anubias. The framework has been enhanced with the live installation of a tank by ADA Italy. Aquascaping workshop and Contest executed by the Aquagarden group. The best Italian aquascapers were put to play into a “competition” of setting up tanks that created a real show during the 3 days of event.
