Livia Giovannoli

The year 2010 has seen take place in Italy for the first time a large aquarium exhibition in the center of Italy, addressed mainly to fans and operators that revolve around the tropical fishes and Discus.

My great experience in tropical aquarium and in particular those dedicated to the Discus has made me useful to the event to give a touch of 'green' to those aquariums, often bare and bleak dedicated to Discus that were present at the fair. I also give some information dedicated to the public on setting up and managing this type of aquarium. The results related to the influx of visitors and "criticism" of this first edition have been more than gratifying and led the management to promote the fishkeeping on 360° in this new edition.

The lights of the first edition were still on when the direction of NaQ approved in full and assigned me a project to enhance and bring in the show the natural aquarium.
At the same time were given to other people the task to develop projects for  Caridina, Betta and of course Discus.
Before entering in the design phase of this event I asked myself, as a natural aquariums lover: “what I want to find at the fair?” Then, as organizer:” what message I want to give to to newcomers or to those who see for the first time an aquarium?

As passionate I would be able to find at the show excellence in terms of quality and reputation for the natural aquarium and then I would have the opportunity to exchange information and ideas with those who have the same passion, share my experiences with other enthusiasts and hobbyists to know other people who share my love. I would also be able to see with my own eyes, step by step, how they made these wonderful aquatic landscapes ... so perfect that it seems fake and 'steal' the secret of who sets up these aquariums with excellent results.
As organizer I would like to enchant and be able to make the audience fall in love with the aquarium plants, as I am,  to approach it, encourage it  and give the inspiration to embark on an exciting journey in this wonderful hobby. I would also like the newcomer can receive the right advice to start by those who passed the first difficult phase with the patience of those who have not forgotten that he was himself a "newbie". That's why I planned to do not a contest but a workshop, a creative workshop, where fans, newcomers and visitors can find answers to any questions and curiosity.
Achieving such an ambitious project by myself would be  presumptuous and impossible because of my lack of knowledge of “aquascaping”. Wanting to create an high quality project, which typically is characterized by AAA, you can easily guess which are the names of the companies that I approached to collaborate and support this project, especially if the AAA is synonymous of high quality, you can imagine that Aquagarden is the first name on the list!
I was delighted and relieved when I had full support and cooperation from Dario Schelfi and the whole group of Aquagarden (www.aquagarden.it): With their help I am sure that the NAQ Aquascaping Contest 2011 will be the flagship of the whole fair.
Now let's see which are the ideas me and Dario Schelfi have developed:

The activities that we're going to promote in this workshop will be organized and performed during the 3 day of the event.
In our project are provided the following activities:

1)Aquascaping Contest:
The composition of 8 tanks will be realized in the first two days of the fair according to the individual projects of the aquascapers.

They will set up tanks of great value and design inspired by natural all'Iwagumi Japanese Aquarium.

The tanks will be set up in front of the public with deferred timetable to give the opportunity to the public to follow these activities.
After the tanks will be set up, its will be then judged by a popular jury and a technical jury that we have to set.

The tanks will be set up on Friday and Saturday morning, so during the 'highlight' of the exhibition, the tanks are ready to be admired

For the achievement of the Contest we have presupposed the the material that we have to make available and, to get the result we expect we want to apply mainly to companies that can guarantee the excellent quality standards and have a proven experience in this type of aquarium.

Aquariums:
5 – only glass aquarium measuring 90x45x45 (for natural aquarium).
3 - only glass aquariums measuring 60x30x40 or 60x40x40 (for Iwagumi).

Each aquarium will include the following accessories:
The support, a ceiling light with 4 neonT5 suitable for sweet aquariums, an external filter suitable with the liters of water and a dispensing unit CO2 with diffuser.
Each tank will be connected to the power supply with two outlets: filter and lights.

We will give the chance to every acquascaper to plan their tank and in give us in time a list of detailed material that we have to make available for its implementation.
For the success of each project we will ensure that the material made available for acquascaper reflects the provision in detail.

The aquascapers will not impose any brand preference, provided it meets the required characteristics, if not for any aesthetic particular.

2)  Workshops, seminars and conferences

In the "workshop" of Aquascaping will be included short lessons, practical demonstrations, seminars and small conferences but will also given simple advice for those approaching for the first time natural aquarium.

To realize this aspect we will provide a space used for conferences and speakers, in an area adjacent to the one used for the Contest.

We would also make a  live aquascaping  that truly reflects the philosophy of Ada, this production will be done by an expert of this philosophy that will create a natural aquarium in accordance with the compositional techniques of Takashi Amano.
For this exhibition we will have an Ada tank full of accessories and materials for thelayout.

The space of the exhibition devoted to these activities will be about 300 square meters.
Around the area of the contest, there will be booths of companies that join the project;  we will also have a space dedicated to  group Aquagarden as a metting point of many fans who are part of it.

We will update in real time!!!
