I began fish keeping over 44 years ago and have successfully kept and bred a large number of species.
Growing up in Southern Africa I had access to indigenous African cichlids, mormyrinds, killifish and the like, and have been fortunate enough to have been able to collect fish in the wild in southern Africa.
I first encountered The King of the Aquarium about 1972 when the shop I worked in (aged 11) had some in, and have been fascinated by these amazing fish ever since.
I only started keeping Discus myself about 15 years ago, and have successfully bred both domestic and wild varieties. Additionally I successfully bred and raised a variety of rarer, and less popular species such as Potamotrygon spp, and a number of Corydoras and L numbers well before they became so popular, as well as the usual cichlids, egglayers, livebearers and killifish.
I was Show Manager for the UKDA Discus Show in 2006, 2007 and 2008, and the BIDKA British Discus Show in 2013. I was also a Judge at the BIDKA British Discus Shows in 2008, 2009, 2011and 2013, as well as the Discus Club Holland Discus Championship in 2013, the Nordic Discus Society Show in 2014 and the Iberian Discus Championship in Spain in 2014.
I took over the ownership and management of BIDKA (The British and International Discus Keepers Association) and The British Discus Show in 2012.
